What's all this then?
waffle software is a software label putting out what hopefully turns out to be good products. We use the word 'label' because it's not about being a company, and it's not just about good products - it's about a few shared values of the participating developers.
So what does that mean?
Some common principles, simply.
- We're more selective of shareware.
- Shareware means income. It's a good model if you make it work. But shareware also means walking a fine line all the time. You've got to balance the features in the unregistered and registered versions, you've got to arrive at a reasonable price, you've got to implement a reasonable registration mechanism and provide extra support with regards to registration and payment issues. Every single minute we spend worrying about this is a minute not spent on coding.
- Parts of donations and payments always go to charity. Always.
- 15% or more of any donations or other payments always go to charities chosen by us and people who use our products.
- Giving back.
- Programming and user interface design is hard. If we find ourselves solving a problem where a solution isn't obvious or widely-spread, we'll do our best to help spread it ourselves.
