1.7 (March 31 2006)
- There's now a way to make Gmail+Growl temporarily surpress notifications. Use the Enable/Disable button in Gmail+Growl Utility.
- Fixed a problem where Growl wouldn't offer to install itself if it wasn't already installed.
- If you're using Mac OS X 10.4 or later ("Tiger"), the notification title/body fields now show the different placeholders graphically. (You can drag them in from a placeholder field below, and drag them around in the field.) If you're using 10.3.9, the older plain text version should be used, and there's now a long-needed label saying that you need to tab out of the field to make the settings 'take'.
- Fixed a problem where Gmail+Growl Utility would crash, preventing installation, if you had certain browsers installed. (Browsers here mean applications handling the http: and https: URL schemes, and the culprits are such applications lacking what's called a 'bundle identifier'.)
1.6.5 (March 22 2006)
- Certified for use with the Universal version of Gmail Notifer, 1.8.2. Thanks to Greg Miller and Google's QA team.
- Consequently incorporated the new Gmail Notifier icon.
- A small fix too; holding shift and clicking notifications will dismiss them instead of opening their link (if you have them set to open normally; otherwise it *will* actually open them, since it inverts that setting). Handy for dismissing sticky notifications or just opening select messages.
- Source code released March 23 2006.
1.6.1 (February 20 2006)
- Previously, due to a bug in keeping preferences synchronized with the backend preferences system, text fields in Gmail+Growl Utility would periodically revert to their latest saved setting in the middle of editing. This has been fixed.
- Due to problems with automatic updating, this version will not automatically be delivered.
1.6 (February 16 2006)
- The Gmail+Growl Installer tool and the Gmail+Growl Preferences tool are both replaced by the Gmail+Growl Utility tool, which contains the functions of both tools.
- Gmail+Growl Utility can check for updates to Gmail+Growl manually. You can also opt to have it check every time you launch the Utility.
- An experimental solution is in place to throttle opening of messages. Some users reported up to 25 tabs (or windows) spawning as a result of clicking once on a notification, and the solution tries to fix that. If: you've had this problem before and you find that using Gmail+Growl 1.6 fixes it, or if it doesn't fix it, or if you haven't had the problem earlier but this version breaks something, please let me know.
1.5.2 (February 3 2006)
- Clicking a notification now successfully brings up a message in the web browser if your user name in Gmail Notifier's preferences isn't the full Gmail address but just the user name part. Thanks to Joe Goodstein for reporting this.
- Source code released simultaneously.
1.5.1 (January 31 2006)
- Improved installer:
- Quits and relaunches Gmail Notifier for you if it's running.
- Provides documentation on what it does and which files will be involved.
- Looks a bit more like a standard package-based Installer would.
- No changes to the Preferences tool nor Gmail+Growl when compared to 1.5.
- Source code released simultaneously.
1.5 (January 27 2006)
- Universal Binary. Will work with Gmail Notifier automatically when it's also Universal.
- Installer automatically opens Preferences tool at the end of the installation process if they are both in the same folder.
- New icon(s).
- Source code released simultaneously.
1.4 (later on January 7 2006)
- Opens the received message in Gmail in the browser of your choice when you click its notification. (Use the Preferences tool to turn this off or choose the browser.)
- Lets you change the total number of notifications to be shown in the Preferences tool. (The preference had been available since 1.0, but not in the user interface.)
1.3 (January 7 2006)
- Opens the received message in Gmail in your default web browser when you click its notification. (Use the Preferences tool to turn this off.)
1.2 (September 28 2005)

- Notification placeholders for empty parts (like an empty subject) is now replaced with something descriptive instead of the placeholder staying put.
- Source code released October 11 2005.
1.1 second release (September 20 2005)
- Even less obnoxious installer, in that it opens and functions (what a concept).
1.1 (September 19 2005)
- Less obnoxious installer.
- Customizable notification contents.
1.0 (September 3 2005)
- Initial release.
- Source code released September 9 2005.
