ThisService

Create services from any script

ThisService 2.0.1

ThisService 2.0.1 fixes a bug where, in some cases, Packed-Up services would not run.

Easier to share

ThisService 2.0 lets you easily Pack Up your services for distribution. Just stick the generated zip archive on your web site or mail it to a friend; ThisService can even generate installations instructions for you, or bundle the ones you provide.

Easier to start

If you've never written a service script before, you're in luck. ThisService 2.0 ships with starting points - templates for service scripts written in AppleScript, Perl, Ruby and Python. A newly written Help book explains both the services creation process and how to use ThisService itself.

Easier to edit

ThisService 2.0 lets you make services that just refer to their service scripts instead of copy them. So, in other words, you can keep editing your service script exactly where it is, without needing to save your script and then recreate the service all the time. And since ThisService services don't needlessly cache the script, you can edit the script, save it and try out your changes within the editor a second later.

Easier to use

The shortcut field checks for potential collisions with common shortcuts. The file picker lets you command-click it to pop up a menu showing you exactly where the file is. The generated instructions from the Pack Up feature by default carry your name, email address and web site as pulled from your Address Book card. And of course, you can automatically check for updates to ThisService, and upgrade with one click when they become available.
